Coast and Countryside

Coast Path Walks
There are many wonderful and varied walks starting from all three villages. The coast path offers exhilarating walking going in either direction. Some sections are more strenuous than others. There are a number of coast path leaflets available from the Visitor Centres at 50p each. It is always worth asking about buses between the sections so that you need only walk one way. We always suggest that you catch the bus first so that you don't have to run for the bus at the end of a strenuous walk.

Circular Walks
Circular walks are always popular, as there is no need to retrace your steps. There are a number of walks which start from the Boscastle Visitor Centre. These include the Pentragon Walk, the Four Church Walk and a Boscastle walk through the wood and surrounding countryside. There are also circular walks which start from near to Tintagel at Bossiney and Trebarwith. From Crackington Haven there is the Crackington walk and the St. Gennys walk All these walks and many others are available from the Visitor Centres or can be purchased on line.

Village Trails
There are trails available to take you around Boscastle and Tintagel villages so that you can learn more about their history and maybe visit bits of the villages you would not otherwise find. These leaflets are available from the Visitor Centres, along with a wide range of other village and town trails for other parts of North Cornwall.

Wildlife abounds in the area. In spring and early summer the cliffs, valleys and hedgerows are a mass of colour with the many flowers. If you enjoy bird watching then the choice is yours. Walk up one of the wooded valleys and you are likely to see a dipper bobbing along in the streams and rivers. Or look in to the trees for nuthatches and long tailed tits. The lists goes on and on. Walk on the cliff top and you will see a wide variety of sea birds from fulmars to shags, razorbills to oyster catchers. Walking on the cliff top there is always a chance that you will spy the odd seal or basking shark. Dolphins often pass by and if you are lucky you may spy the unusual sunfish.
